TBGEN

TBGEN Africa Is a consortium of four African countries collaborating with their international partners to strengthen genomic and bioinformatic capacity using research and research training as a platform. TBGEN Africa is supported through the Human Heredity and Health (H3Africa)

Research

RESEARCH

RESEARCH

TBGEN Africa aims to map the distribution of Mycobacterium tuberculosis genotypes amongst genetically distinct human populations in four African countries. It will compare paired host and bacterial genomes to identify loci that have co-evolved.

Capacity building

CAPACITY BUILDING

CAPACITY BUILDING

TBGEN Africa aims to extend African capacity for genomics and bioinformatics. It will build research expertise and leadership in genomic medicine through sustainable investment, linking emerging and established African institutions together with support from experienced international collaborators.

Bioinformatics Research and Training

BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH AND TRAINING

BIOINFORMATICS RESEARCH AND TRAINING

TBGEN Africa aims to extend African capacity for genomics and bioinformatics. It will build research expertise and leadership in genomic medicine through sustainable investment, linking emerging and established African institutions together with support from experienced international collaborators.

ETHICS, LEGAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES

ETHICS, LEGAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES

Ethics, Legal and Social Issues

TBGEN Africa will undertake research to better understand relevant social and ethical issues related to genomic research in African communities. TBGEN Africa will test and develop best-practice standards in ethical conduct of genomic research in resource-limited settings as well as in research partnership ethics between “North” and “South” as well as between “South” and “South”.
