TBGEN Africa Is a consortium of four African countries collaborating with their international partners to strengthen genomic and bioinformatic capacity using research and research training as a platform. TBGEN Africa is supported through the Human Heredity and Health (H3Africa). 

The second phase of the Wellcome component of H3Africa is being implemented by the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and the NEPAD Agency’s Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA) in partnership with Wellcome. TBGEN was initiated in August 2018.
